Upper Cervical Chiropractic Care

Our core technique focuses on the top of the neck, where the brain stem sits, using precise, low-force corrections instead of broad, full-spine adjustments.

Upper Cervical Chiropractic Care

We use Knee Chest Upper Cervical Specific technique, a gentle, precise form of cervical chiropractic care focused on the upper neck rather than the whole spine.

The brain stem controls automatic functions throughout the body: sleep, digestion, blood pressure, heart rate, body temperature, and balance among them. When the top of the spine is misaligned, that communication can be disrupted.

If there is a problem at the top of the spine, it tends to affect everything below it. Correcting that first, precisely, lets the rest of the spine follow, rather than chasing symptoms one at a time.

We also draw on NUCCA (National Upper Cervical Chiropractic Association) methods, which use precise laser measurements to guide small, calculated adjustments over several visits, reevaluating alignment after each one.

Correcting the upper cervical spine is not a single event. Alignment is measured before an adjustment and checked again afterward, so both of us can see how your body responded rather than assuming it worked.

Most of the nerves running through this area are not carrying pain signals at all; they are controlling other functions throughout the body. That is why a misalignment here can affect you for years without ever hurting, and why we check the nervous system rather than waiting for a symptom to appear.

Precise, not forceful

Knee Chest Upper Cervical Specific and NUCCA techniques rely on measurement, not twisting or cracking.

Top-down approach

Correcting the upper neck first is the basis for the rest of the spine following.

Measured and reevaluated

Alignment is checked again after each adjustment, not assumed.

Upper cervical chiropractic adjustment: the key to better health

Dr. Kyle Collins is a licensed medical professional practicing Upper Cervical Chiropractic techniques in Scottsdale, Arizona.

Specifically, we utilize the most precise form of Arizona chiropractic care, called Knee Chest Upper Cervical Specific, a gentle cervical chiropractic treatment that includes precise chiropractic adjustments focused on the cervical spine.

This technique focuses on removing the interference in the upper part of the neck where the brain stem sits, through precise chiropractic adjustments. The brain stem controls every automatic function and response in the body, such as sleep, digestion, blood pressure, heart rate, body temperature, balance and equilibrium, and many more.

When the brain stem and the body are able to communicate with each other freely through proper chiropractic adjustments, you are able to live life to its fullest.

Upper cervical chiropractic vs. full spine chiropractic

The main difference between AZ chiropractors that focus a lot of energy in the upper neck vs. the full spine is the importance on having the head or neck in the correct position to allow the rest of the spine to follow.

If there is a problem at the top it will always affect the bottom. Since the top is the most vulnerable to misalign, it makes so much sense to fix it correctly and allow the rest to follow. If we are always trying to adjust every part of the spine instead of the main problem, we are merely chasing symptoms and using chiropractic care as if it were medicine.

By using state of the art technologies with attentive and individualized care, including precise chiropractic adjustments, Dr. Collins helps patients kick unnecessary medications and start living healthier and more active lives.

NUCCA (National Upper Cervical Chiropractic Association)

Unlike other forms of chiropractic techniques, NUCCA employs precise measurements to gradually adjust the spine over time, making it a careful and effective form of cervical chiropractic treatment. NUCCA practitioners use lasers to measure spinal misalignments before proceeding with any chiropractic adjustments.

Small and calculated adjustments are made over several appointments to allow the spine to realign naturally, mimicking the process of self-healing.

After these chiropractic adjustments, the patient’s upper cervical spine is reevaluated. If misalignment persists, further slight adjustments are made until the spine returns to its proper alignment.

Questions

Upper Cervical Care questions

The questions we are asked most often about this kind of care. If yours is not here, the consultation is free and we will give you a straight answer.

Upper cervical doctors complete post-graduate training after chiropractic college, covering the anatomy, neurology, biomechanics, radiology, instrumentation and corrective procedures specific to the upper cervical spine. The focus is the top two bones of the neck, the atlas and axis, which surround the nervous system that controls every part of the body.

A subluxation is a bone at the top of the neck sitting out of alignment. It places pressure on the nerves and reduces how well the brain and body communicate. Removing that interference is what allows the body to function at its best.

No. An upper cervical adjustment is light and specific, with no twisting or pulling, and it follows a full examination and X-rays that establish exactly where the misalignment is.

No, and this is why they go unnoticed for years. Most of the nerves in the body are not carrying pain signals at all; they are controlling other functions. A misalignment can be affecting you without ever producing pain, which is the reason to have the nervous system checked rather than waiting for a symptom.

Dr. Kyle Collins graduated from Arizona State University and earned his Doctorate from Life Chiropractic College West in the California Bay Area, then continued his education specifically in Upper Cervical Care before founding Begin Within Family Wellness.
